The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and FIDIC Africa are planning holistic training for their members so as to empower them with the capability to deliver on massive infrastructure projects. This was the crux of the discussion at the meeting when the President of NSE, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, F.ASCE, FAEng, MFR received the President of FIDIC Africa, Engr. George C. Okoroma, FNSE, FAEng, JP, at the National Engineering Centre (NEC) Headquarters, Abuja on Friday, May 22, 2026.
FIDIC Africa is the African regional body of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). It represents consulting engineering associations across Africa and promotes collaboration, infrastructure development, professional standards and engineering best practices on the continent.
The training is intended to cover acquiring the crucial information and the process of bidding for multi-billion projects that represent major infrastructure development projects of government or private concerns. Eventually, the training will help the beneficiaries to equip themselves with the requisite capability to win such contracts upon being advertised and also doing such projects satisfactorily.
NSE and the continental engineering consulting body also share the vision of building the capacity of Young Engineers and giving them early exposure on how to handle high-capacity projects. Similarly, the President of NSE agreed with the President of Fidic Africa on modalities to strengthen engineering consulting both in Nigeria and on the continent of Africa and beyond.
