The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has reiterated its commitment towards improving the skills of its members to compete globally and transform communities and the infrastructure landscape.
NSE President, Mrs Margaret Oguntala, pledged at the flag-off of a professional development training programme organised by the society in Lagos.
Speaking at the training, which also coincides with NSE’s 67th anniversary, Oguntala said the training was designed for both the young and older generations of engineers. She said the training demonstrated NSE’s commitment to equipping local engineers with cutting-edge knowledge and skills to thrive in the digital age.
Oguntala emphasised that since its establishment, the NSE has remained steadfast in its mission to advance engineering excellence, promote capacity building, and contribute to national development. Oguntala disclosed that the launch of the capacity-building programme is a core objective to keep NSE members abreast of new technologies.
According to her, the two training cohorts launched are designed to equip participants with essential digital skills that will enhance their careers and contributions to national development.
“Cohort I focused on digital transformation in engineering practices while Cohort II specialised in data analytics, designed for the young engineers. The successful candidates for the young engineers are 209, and senior engineers are 252. The successful participants were selected on a first-come basis during the registration,” she said.
The NSE president also stressed the need for continued investments in the growth and development of engineers and urged participants to take advantage of the training to enhance the knowledge and skills needed to shape the future of engineering in Nigeria.
