Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide has vowed to pay unscheduled visits to the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) District Offices as part of moves to ensure courteous and efficient service delivery, especially during the amnesty window for completed buildings.
He made this known during a periodic meeting with District Officers of LASPPPA at the Agency’s Headquarters on Friday, adding that applications for approval were expected to increase significantly during the amnesty period as owners of existing buildings without Approval would want to seize the opportunity to regularise their buildings.
“District Officers of LASPPPA who will be attending to these Applications are first and foremost civil servants who should behave as such by being respectful and diligent in serving the people”, he said.
Olumide explained further that the amnesty programme on waiver of penalty for existing buildings is part of incentives to encourage Lagosians to comply with Physical Planning Laws in the face of the current economic hardship in the country.
He urged LASPPPA to develop a module for assessing the weekly performance of each of its districts in the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State, adding that it must not be business as usual as Lagosians ought to get a better deal.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Engr. Oluwole Sotire said that Officers must brace up for the challenge and see the new developments as game changers through which they must offer the best services to the people.
The General Manager of LASPPPA, Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike enjoined the staff of the Agency to heed the Commissioner’s call by doing everything necessary to ensure that Applicants are satisfied with their services.
