Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has announced plans to institutionalize the SkillUp Imo Initiative; a flagship digital skills empowerment program that has successfully trained over 50,000 young people across the state.
The governor made the announcement while receiving the certificate of approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the establishment of the University of Innovation, Science and Technology, Omuma, in Imo State.
Governor Uzodimma stated that the creation of the university represents a strategic step toward sustaining and expanding the impact of the SkillUp Imo Initiative. According to him, the institution will focus on producing graduates who are not only employable but also equipped to become entrepreneurs, innovators, and globally competitive professionals driving the digital economy.
The new university is expected to serve as a hub for innovation and technology-driven learning, further consolidating Imo State’s position as a leader in digital transformation and youth empowerment in Nigeria.
